O’Brien’s Edge - Why this name?

“The O’Brien part was easy…The Edge is where I believe most things happen”.

Artist: Shane O’Brien with His band “O’Brien’s Edge”

Experience: 20+ years of writing, producing, mixing, recording and
Performing music and words that are well understood by all audiences.
Gigs such as The Bitter end located in the Village, NYC or The Peanut Gallery, Tampa, FL, The El Mocambo, Toronto, The Smiling Buddha, Vancouver, BC., or The Warner Grand Theatre, San Pedro, CA ., are GOOD reflections of an Evening spent with Shane (SSS) and his band on the musical edge.

Music Style: West Coast Blues with an East Coast Rock Attitude.
Original “Americana”, blended with shades of alternative country, blues, folk and rock. Like They Said of Hendrix “Amplified Blues”.

Instruments: Shane uses a ’62 Stratocaster, D28 Martin, B.B. King” Lucille”, 1977 Takamine Nylon Classic, Various amps recorded dry.

Background: Shane O’Brien, born in Canada, and now a proud US Citizen, resides in San Pedro, California. He works as a Journeyman Union Ironworker, Local 433, Los Angeles. He completed his apprenticeship while assigned to the Vincent Thomas Bridge
Right here in San Pedro.

Philosophy: I “Feel” this music and generally refer to this as “The Genuine One”. Oftentimes I write songs about the challenges of living in a world that is so busy and challenging that it has inherited a cold, rough way of survival. I sing and play music that expresses a euphoric joy that words truly cannot describe through personal rhythms and unpredictable melodies.

Studio: “The Jungle” – My home studio. The name came from my union brothers at the Vincent Thomas Bridge overhead! I’m in awe and feel truly blessed for welcoming so many uniquely talented musicians that join me and play music in the Jungle. The end result is truly “magic.”

Recordings: For more than two decades, “O’Briens Edge” Formerly known as “Shame Shame Shame”, thru Shane, has written and recorded more than 24 complete CD’s. Got label?

Influences: Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, BB King, John Lee Hooker, J.J. Cale and of course, my treasured local favorites: Tony Sena, Nicky “Shoes” Pizzale, Don Haney, Danny Timms, Jimmy Solo, Eddie Estudillo, Stu Heydon and the writing style of Hoopa Johnny C.Ricker.
